Detail of hsa-miR-21
ncRNA name hsa-miR-21
ncRNA Category miRNA
Disease name choroidal neovascularization (CNV)
Species Homo sapiens
Tissues/Cell_line human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs)
Methods Taqman assay, transfection, Boyden chamber migration assay, Scratch wound migration assay, BrdU incorporation assay, qRT-PCR, Western blot, luciferase reporter assay, isolectin-B4 staining
Expression pattern down-regulated
Functional description Our results identify miR-21 as a new angiogenesis inhibitor and suggest that inhibition of cell migration and tubulogenesis is mediated through repression of RhoB. The therapeutic potential of miR-21 as an angiogenesis inhibitor was demonstrated in vivo in a mouse model of choroidal neovascularization.
